Date: Tue, 3 Dec 2002 17:12:15 Hi
Jean, This
is the revised version of the story. I may have a chance this weekend to
go through and maybe add a little more also. I'm not sure if I will and
I'm not sure if I will be able to add anything else either. I did get
together fifteen pictures so far that I will write on the back
what/where they are taken. I do hope I can be of some kind of help to
encourage another guy from here or another country to make the most
wonderful trip. Have
a great day there, Ken P.S. I always say a special prayer for everyone who has ever touched my life somehow. Even though I have never met you or talked with you, (only via e-mail) you touched my life in a great way, as because of your website, I met the most beautiful/wonderful woman!!! Thank you so much for what you are doing. |
| Below is Ken's story. They
are Ken's words as he sent it to me, except I scanned the photos Ken sent me
and added them where I felt they best fit his story plus a few more to
show you his locations. Click on the blue
bordered pictures to see them full size, then on your browser's BACK button to return to the story. Ken's fiancée does have a name but she asked we not use it or photos of her at this time, however she is a very pretty woman.
I have also made a few
comments using a light gray font color. i.e. (13
hours if on Daylight Savings Time)
I know you will learn much about my country and courtship with a
Filipina. I thank Ken for sharing it with us. Jean |

| After looking around some pen pal websites, I came across Jean’s everlasting love website. After reading though her site, I was positive that this was the type of lady that I wanted to meet as a friend and hopefully more if everything seemed right. So by fate of God, I was up well past my normal bedtime and decided to go into a Philippines chat room with the hope of making a nice friend. On the morning of August 19th, 2001, I met just that person. If seemed right from the start, we were perfect for one another. We seemed to have a lot in common and I was just so happy to see her online, or talk to her on the phone, since she did give me her cell phone number. We chatted more than anything, as I was working second shift and from where I live in the U.S. it’s a twelve-hour difference in time. (13 hours if on Daylight Savings Time) |
| After a few months, she started to ask me if I’d like to come and visit her, and I was very excited to take the trip. I started to plan the trip for the beginning of 2002. Shortly before the end of the year I lost my job, as the company closed. I thought for sure that I wouldn’t be able to go then, as I didn’t have any income and if I did find a new job quickly, I wouldn’t have any vacation time. Well, I did find a new job quickly, and when I told them that I already had a trip planned, they didn’t mind letting me have the two weeks off from work. (The trip wasn’t all planned out yet, but had I told them that, they might not have given me the two weeks off) The very next day after I told my boss about my trip, a guy came up to me at work that seemed rather happy that I was going to the Philippines. It ended up he is a Filipino guy, whom him and his wife both came from the Philippines. They helped me out quite a bit on this trip, and she even had her family still there in Cebu, in which I did meet her brother very quickly my first day there. It was very comforting to know that I would have someone to help me out from there if I needed some help I must say also. Anyway, His wife is a travel consultant, and that helped me out a great deal, as this was to be my first time ever on a plane. So I asked my friend there, what would be a good time to visit her, and she said May was a good time of year, as it was towards the end of their summer, so that is when I went. I made my plans to arrive in Cebu on May 7th. The closer my trip came, the more nervous and excited I became. Finally, after much shopping, for clothes and some presents to take over, I was ready to go. I also brought a package from my Filipino friends here. I packed my bags the night before and awoke early the next morning to get ready and leave. |
