I have spent over a year researching and writing a personal book, Filipina Courtship Secrets. As I have interviewed hundreds of Filipina during my Personal Searches for European and American gentlemen, I have gathered great information to share with you.
Ken's  Trip  Diary   --   Philippines  2002
Right before leaving for the airport, she gave me a card and told me not to open it until I left. Well, as much as I wanted to open it, I couldn’t anyway. All I could seem to do was hold the card and see her handwriting on it. The furthest I got was to open the envelope, but I couldn’t pull the card out as my eyes were starting to get a bit watery. It must have taken me a good five hours before I could open it. I know that it took me after my layover in Hong Kong. I did have quite a few tears in my eyes the last night there while packing. I felt bad as she was so tired but just stayed with me while I packed. What a sweetheart she was and is. When she dropped me off at the airport, the only think I could think to say was, “See you later”. It sounded as if I was coming back in a couple of days or something.  The trip home was lonely without her.
To sum up my trip, it was absolutely great and I can’t wait to go back again. I’m planning on going back there again in a couple of years, and with any luck, she’ll be on the plane flight over with me. I felt safe in most of the places I went while there and met many friendly people. I think every store that I went in had a guard at the entrance that checked your bags real quick, so that helped me to feel safer also. I actually think they treated me nicer in some cases as I was an American. Hopefully anyone who goes will have the same experience as I had. As of the typing of this short story, I’m still waiting to see if I’m approved of the fiancée visa from the INS. For anyone who thinks it takes hardly anytime at all, think again, as to be without the one you love for only a short time seems to last so long, so just imagine a few months. It has already been six months and I’m lucky that I can at least call her on the phone. Be polite and open to a different culture and you will enjoy your trip!!!
One other big thing, speak clearly; after all, English is their second language. If you speak clearly, you will find that they can understand you and if you listen, you will be able to understand them. I found that all of the people I met spoke English quite well.
Thank you Ken for sharing your story.
We will look
forward to your updates.
